Pros:

- Y&R brand.
- My manager was terrific. She always filled me in on projects and allowed me to participate.
- Able to see both TV and print projects.
- Huge clients.
- Production side of the business is cool and something I didn't think much about before my Y&R internship.

Cons:

- Even though I was on the account side, I wanted to experience more of the creative process.

Advice for other students:

- Be active in your university's ad club.
- Know an agency's clients/work before the interview process.

Pros:

- Got to work on some huge name accounts at Young & Rubicam including: LG, Bacardi, Formula 1, Land Rover, and Virgin Atlantic.
- Being in London was cool and gave me an international perspective on the advertising world.
- On set for a shoot.
- Y&R Brand teams were very smart, I learned from the way they attacked problems.

Cons:

- Some of the account management role is nothing more than an organizer. It kind of stinks to play the project management role and hunt down approvals, etc.

Advice for other students:

I highly recommend getting an internship abroad if you can.

Pros:

- Young & Rubicam give the interns an internship project to work on over the summer. Our project was to create a campaign for a campaign for Colgate Wisp.
- Access to the planning team an process.
- I learned a ton.
- Amazing office.
- NYC energy.

Cons:

I want to get into planning, not account management.

Advice for other students:

Get to know which part of the advertising business you want to get into. In school/class projects, everybody does a little bit of everything. At a large agency, there are relatively defined roles, especially at the junior level.
