Yahoo Internship & Company Overview
At Yahoo!, big thinking comes with the territory. When your work reaches over half a billion users--that's 1 out of every 2 people online--there's no small task. We need creative minds that can take us new places. Individuals who want to positively impact their career--and the world at large. We're looking for Big Thinkers who embody the fun, innovative, collaborative spirit that's uniquely Yahoo!. Get an internship experience that’ll make your roommates, friends and classmates purple with envy. From day one you’ll be given a real assignment that will make a real impact on our business, our hundreds of millions of users—and on your future career and the opportunities that will be available to you. You certainly won’t be making copies and coffee runs (unless you like coffee, in which case our free latte bars might interest you). Not your ordinary internship. You’ll be amazed the difference you can make—even in a few months. Maybe your code will be used by millions, or you’ll launch a marketing campaign, develop a new product strategy or an amazing GUI. Our interns have done that—and more. You’ll also have lots of fun—volunteering within the community, networking and social events, and showcasing your work to top execs. You could even have the winning hack at our company-wide Hack Day. *

Pros:
- Office is amazing. Volleyball, gym bball.
- Free coffee. Not just typical office coffee, but made to order. Pretty cool. I love coffee :).
- Employees are smart. Great engineers.
Cons:
- Not what it used to be on the resume (in the premier high tech world).
- Seems a little political at times. I got the feel that some employees were frustrated.
Advice for other students:
Get involved and be aggressive at Yahoo! Seek people and projects out. I loved it.

Pros:
- The campus is very, very cool.
- Great pay.
- You'll have options to get involved with specific groups. Do it, even though it may feel awkward.
- Yahoo! is taking a lot of heat, but they've got some great products with a ton of traffic.
Cons:
Too many meetings
Advice for other students:
Great internships at Yahoo! It is what you make of it.

Pros:
- Great pay.
- Opportunity to get real experience on huge consumer web products.
- Some of the work is your typical tech grunt work.
Cons:
- Reputation is struggling right now. Not close to Facebook and Google.
Advice for other students:
I'd argue that Yahoo! is one of the best places for a technical internship because of their product portfolio. You also get projects on multiple products.

Pros:
- Loved the work and the Yahoo! campus is incredible. Free coffee, courts, great food, etc.

- Tons of intern and tech meetup/social events.
Cons:
- Some people said the culture wasn't too good, but I found the employees to be optimistic.
Advice for other students:
Apply and work hard. Don't overlook Yahoo for Google or the likes.

Pros:
Beautiful campus, awesome benefits, competitive pay, smart coworkers
Cons:
Business execs don't seem to know what they're doing; take the tagline they came up with for example: "premiere leader of digital content." What a load of bullshit! Yahoo is a tech company so start treating it like one!
Advice for other students:
Be prepared to answer technical questions related to your position.

Pros:
- Yahoo! brand. Everybody knows it. Even though the company is being put through the ringer, it's still recognizable.
- People.
- Events.
- Culture.
- The way people work at Yahoo!
- Increased my ability to analyze certain business requirements and fundamentals.
Cons:
Doesn't carry the same amount of prestige after all the company has been through.
Advice for other students:
Yahoo! is still a tech juggernaut.
