Pros:

Unilever is an amazing global corporation to intern and leave the from industry leaders in the CPG field.Interning for a company with a portfolio including Ben & Jerry's, Klondike, Popsicle, Skippy, Good Humor, Hellmans Mayo, Lipton Tea, Wish Bone Sald Dressing, Butters and Margarines, Axe, Dove, Sauve, Caress, Vaseline, Bertolli, Ragu, PF Changs and many more its hard not to love the atmosphere. The culture is incredible with the company rewarding their employees along with their communities around the world. Social responsibility is at the forfront of their mission and is clearly seen along with sustainability within the company. Interning here allows you to be part of creating distinctive new products with proven benefits that address real consumer needs, creating the next hillarious axe commercial, or organizing Free Cone Day with Ben & Jerry's. Unilever is an amazing company and an even better internship program leader.

Cons:

none

Advice for other students:

I loved this internship. Also, know that they hook you up with corporate housing and travel expenses which is nice.

Pros:

All interns are assigned a project to work on throughout the summer, and at the end of the program we present our recommendations to a panel of VPs and Director’s – having that level of exposure is pretty phenomenal for an intern! My specific project was to develop a shopper marketing strategy for the 2010 launch of PF Chang’s branded frozen Asian meals. This meant that I was to make recommendations for how best to reach consumers using our retail partners.

I spent the first few weeks at Unilever immersing myself in the category, the consumer and our competitors. Consumer shopping habits are fascinating – there are a million things that take place in a consumer’s mind before she puts a product into her shopping cart! Using the right shopper marketing strategy can alter this behavior, and ultimately make or break a new product. It’s safe to say that after my summer, I will never shop the same again!

Cons:

Only got to work on a single brand, but that is to be expected.

Advice for other students:

This is a premier consumer package goods company with an amazing marketing team. Smart people.
