Pros:
- Office is very cool.
- Free snacks and lunch.
- Dynamic marketing department working on all sorts of projects.
- I knew about seo and sem, but now I know a ton more. It prepared me for any online marketing job.
- TripAdvisor was used to interns and treated my whole internship class with respect.
- My boss helped explain the big picture business operation stuff to me, which was really interesting. He took the time to make sure that I was stretched both from a marketing and finance standpoint.
Cons:
Workflow was an occasional issue.
Advice for other students:
If you can get it, take a marketing internship at TripAdvisor. It's well known as one of the best marketers on the internet and when you go to apply for an entry level marketing position, every company will take a look at you.

Pros:
- Autonomy on projects. I was able to make my own design and development decisions on my specific projects.
- Code reviews help you become better.
- Experience with large, large amounts of data.
- Typical internet company stuff: free lunch, great computer setup, free snacks, sodas, etc.
Cons:
none.
Advice for other students:
I wanted experience at a large consumer internet company and I got it at TripAdvisor. I don't think I could have got this same level of freedom to actually create at Google, Microsoft, etc. I'm glad I took this internship.

Pros:
- Hands on experience in HR versus my organization behavior classes. Literally it was night and day. Makes me think that universities need to update what they teach.
- Technical recruiting is difficult and I learned how that process works. For example, finding a specific type of developer that can work with our code base.
- Perks are unreal - free everything, even as in intern. Full timers also have great perks.
- My boss was a badass. She taught me the whole process and shared strategy on how a fast paced company has to grow in terms of headcount.
Cons:
Nothing, this was an amazing experience.
Advice for other students:
If you are looking to learn HR at a fast paced company, I couldn't think of a better place than TripAdvisor. Also, make sure you have used the product before you apply (go research a hotel and write a review).

Pros:
- Free lunch, coffee, and snacks.
- Engineering team pushes things live to production every couple of days.
- Freedom.
- Added a new filter to restaurant listings, which was a fun project.
- Culture was flexible.
- Learned a ton about speed to market, then testing, optimizing, etc. This taught me a new strategy for the type of development mindset that I need to have.
Cons:
Not sure if it still qualifies as a startup.
Advice for other students:
Don't be afraid to ask other engineers questions and try to get some project that you can do start to finish.

Pros:
- Technology group is aggressive and I learned a lot from them.
- TripAdvisor develops things quickly. I loved this. Pushed code often and aggressively.
- Free lunches (pretty good), snacks, beverages, etc.
- I really connected with the type of results culture.
- Worked on creating mobile apps, which was a blast and exactly what I'd like to do after graduation.
Cons:
I'm guessing they are kind of moving from startup feel to regular company.
Advice for other students:
Get into the mobile space, it's not going to stop growing. Also, don't be afraid to present ideas to your manager, they'll listen and might implement it.
