Scottrade Internships

Scottrade offers paid internships across all business units. Internship opportunities are available throughout the year with additional opportunities available during the summer. The largest concentration of internships is in technology, marketing, hr, and financial planning. Internships are offered at both branch offices and in Scottrade's corporate headquarters.

Internship benefits/perks at Scottrade include: learning resources, virtual portfolio challenge, high % of job offers upon internship/college completion, pay, and work flexibility. 

Scottrade uses it's internship program as a direct pipeline to full-time positions. Scottrade hires approximately 60% of their graduating interns each year to work in entry level positions.

Pros: I love finance/investing and technology, so Scottrade was a great fit for me. It was interesting to learn the product cycle and how new features get built into the platform. I did much more software and feature development and not tech support, which was great. - Really nice people (inluding my manager). - Ultimately I'd like to either start or work for a personal finance startup. I feel like this internship really allowed me a window into what that would be like. Cons: - Not very good pay for a technology intern. Advice for other students: If you are into tech and finance, Scottrade is a great place to spend the summer.

Pros: - People know Scottrade. - My branch was going well, so office attitude was up. - I learned about financial products, which I really, really loved. - The business is really about creatively solving financial issues for customers and this feels good. - Nice boss. Cons: - Some busy work. - Pay is kind of low, but at least it's a paid internship. Advice for other students: You really get out what you put in at this Scottrade internship. If you want to go there and not learn or do much, you can do that and it's easy. But, if you want to learn, be aggressive and it will be rewarding.
