As an intern, you’ll not only gain exposure to a wide range of technical and operational opportunities, you’ll also acquire critical insight into our company and our industry, as well as have the chance to develop valuable networking connections, which will help prepare and develop your skills for future career opportunities.

Available Opportunities
Internships may be available in the following areas:
• Nuclear Generation
• Power Operations
• Energy Distribution
• Energy Transmission
• Service Company (Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology and Telecommunications or Supply Chain)

Progress Energy Summer Internships

• Are paid positions
• Run from May to August
• Require a 40-hour/week commitment, Monday – Friday
• May be located in the following areas: Florida (St. Petersburg, Crystal River, Lake Mary andsurrounding areas). North Carolina (Raleigh, Wilmington, Southport and surrounding areas. South Carolina (Hartsville, Florence and surrounding areas).*

Pros:

- Progress converts interns to fulltime hires.
- Worked with Progress's steam systems from reactor to turbine.
- Complex energy systems experience.

Energy engineering is a field in which job opportunities are abundant. I received multiple offers.

Pros:

- opportunities to turn internship into fulltime position (lots of interns get offers).
- Experience with Sharepoint setup/admin.
- Enterprise work on supply chain software app. I definitely felt like my project would have an impact on the business.
- Duke+Progress work.

Cons:

not too much

Advice for other students:

Progress is a good place to intern and internships are likely to lead to fulltime offers.
