NFL Internship & Company Overview

Junior Rotational Program:

At the core of the NFL's Junior Rotational Program is a series of work assignments which will provide participants with an opportunity to contribute to the organization's success while receiving an unparalleled learning experience. Program participants will complete several rotations over a defined period. During each rotation, participants are placed in a department for 6 to 12 months with project-based assignments.

In addition, participants will receive comprehensive orientation and training, mentor assignments with upper management and the opportunity to network with other Junior Rotational Program participants.

Placement opportunities within the NFL are based on business needs and individual performance. Current participating areas include Communications & Public Affairs, Events, Finance, Football Operations & Officiating, International, Marketing & Sales, and Media. Upon completion of the program, participants may pursue further education, opportunities at NFL clubs and partner organizations, or opportunities outside the NFL.

Summer Internship Program:

NFL Summer Internship Program participants have the opportunity to contribute to the organization's success while receiving an unmatched, behind-the-scenes learning experience. Though interns work within specific departments, they are able to explore all aspects of the business of professional football through speaker presentations, mentoring relationships and networking opportunities.

Selected applicants are placed within the NFL based on interest, experience, academic coursework, and the NFL's business needs. Past assignments at the League Office have included the following departments: Communications & Public Affairs, Community Affairs, Consumer Products, Events, Finance & Accounting, Football Operations, Human Resources, Information Technology, Internal Audit, International, Labor & Legal, Marketing & Sales, and Media.

All of us in the NFL are proud of our rich history and our special place in American culture. While we are fortunate to be recognized as one of the world's strongest entertainment brands, we also believe that the future offers more opportunity for the NFL to grow. Of the NFL's many assets, none is more valuable than the people who work together to help it succeed. The NFL staff has been a fundamental part of the league's success and will continue to play a key role in our continued growth and progress.

The NFL encourages its employees to enjoy their work and develop their talent both personally and professionally. We recognize that the only way to reach our goals is to have a team of talented individuals. Our employees are highly motivated, innovative team players. If you possess these qualities, there may be a place for you on our roster.*

Pros:

Interning with the NFL has been an amazing experience. All employees, including the Executives, are always willing to take time out of their day to meet with Interns. We are treated like an actual employee with the caliber of work that is given to us. There is also an extensive speaker/presentation series as well as mentorship opportunities.

Cons:

Hope they make more entry level hires. Overall, great internships.

Advice for other students:

Find a way in, tough to land the internship.

Pros:

- It's the NFL.
- Big business. The revenues and popularity of the NFL are intense.
- The work was also interesting. I was about to assess and give my opinion on the NFL's League’s internal control systems. I also got to participate in a team audit which was very cool.
- Smart people.

Cons:

Sometimes I didn't have too much work to do.

Advice for other students:

Try to get a public account internship after your sophmore year so that you can better position yourself for the company side of accounting.
