Pros:
I'd love to be able to crack into this industry. I worked with a senior correspondent for NBC and did everything from research to social media. It was interesting to see the day in the life of this guy and learn how footage and segments get produced. A ton of work goes into small clips.
Cons:
Low pay and not sure if this is going to help me get my foot in the door.
Advice for other students:
Start the internship search as soon as you can. Also, even though networking can be painful, it's worth it.

Pros:
- Experience in Final Cut Pro.
- Loved being on set for certain recordings. The production process is very cool.
- NBCUniversal does a good job with interns and you can tell that managers have had interns before.
- Good company.
- My manager was terrific. I still email back and forth with her all the time.
- Helped in booking guest for shows, which was interesting.
Cons:
None really. Some intern type work, but not much.
Advice for other students:
The media world is very fun.

Pros:
- The interesting part about my role at NBC was the breadth of media properties I was exposed to. And, the size of these brand deals.
- Helped organize a film premiere and an industry breakfast which were both great events.
- Paid.
- NBC treats interns well.
Cons:
- Didn't really love preping for client meetings. Basically, getting the presentation and rooms ready. The actual meetings were cool.
Advice for other students:
If you are interested in media, I'd recommend going to work for a media agency or a large media company (like NBC) where you can see the different sides of the business.

Pros:
I loved working for CNBC over the summer! I helped load the web properties with documentary and special extra footage. I was also able to troubleshoot, write, and produce multiple sections. Working on Jim Cramer's stuff was especially interesting. I learned a ton about seo, content management systems, and online advertising deals. Great boss and great summer!
Cons:
It's tough to get a good job in media these days. And, the entry level jobs don't pay too well (especially for new york).
Advice for other students:
Know the digital space and have ideas on how to slice content for the web.

- Smart producers and I loved working for my boss.
- Invited to attend edit sessions and screenings. This was a very cool experience.
- Cool experience.
Cons:
As an NBC production intern, be prepared to work hard, long hours.
Advice for other students:
Talk to producers about their craft.

Pros:
- NBC is a big company with a lot of opportunity.
- I learned the sales cycle and the media sales process. There is big money here, but it's also a crazy world.
- The main sales person that I supported was a great lady and I stay in touch with her. She could sell and I learned a lot from her approach.
- Cool office.
Cons:
- I basically packaged up spreadsheets and ppt presentations. I wasn't too involved in a lot of the strategic thinking processes.
Advice for other students:
There is a lot of money in media sales and media planning. My advice is to start off as a media planner on the large agency side and then transition over to an NBC-like media sales position.

Pros:
My manager and co-workers at NBCUniversal were just great people. My boss was a terrific guy who will no doubt rapidly move up the ranks at NBC. While I was there, I mainly worked on video and mobile content on our NBCSports.com and Hulu.com properties. I did a bunch of stuff ranging from editing video, compiling video, and graphic editing for intros. The team working on Hulu.com is especially hard-working and uber-intelligent.
Cons:
I would have enjoyed seeing the advertising sales piece of the business. NBC/Hulu sell a ton of display, layover, and pre/post-roll video. I was curious on how these huge ad deals worked.
Advice for other students:
Entertainment is embracing technology. You have to know technology principles these days.

Pros:
Amazing! My internship at NBCUniversal was amazing. I worked with the talent group at Saturday Night Live. I had a hand in coordinating dress rehearsals and the live show. I learned a ton about handling stars and producing. Producers do a lot more that I thought. The whole crew was incredible and this was seriously one of those pitch-yourself type experiences. Some of the hosts I worked on included Jon Hamm and Anne Hathaway. Awesome.
Cons:
unpaid, but I don't think any entertainment companies pay their interns.
Advice for other students:
Network.
