Pros:
This is the best internship. Immediately I was able to work on actual client work, interact with other internal teams, and gain a greater insight into the agency world. The program also is set up to have weekly learning sessions and social outings.
Cons:
None.
Advice for other students:
This is a competitive, tough internship to get. If you make the cut, you're going to work with some great people. They also hired about 7 from last year's group for permanent jobs.

Pros:
I’m so lucky I got this internship. It’s stressful but it’s the kind of stressful where its so fascinating that you’re learning. I actually want to go to work every morning.
From the first day you are put onto real accounts.
You are in contact with the client and they have you doing everything a normal entry-level person would do after being hired. Some things are confidential. They really trust the interns and they want you to see the real life workings of an advertising agency.
My daily tasks included creating media lists, writing press releases, making sure pitches are received and evaluating whether publications are going to print the story.
Cons:
Fast paced environment which is awesome, but be ready!
Advice for other students:
There are very few places that are young, dynamic and integrated like Mullen, it is truly a fun environment to work in. If you can get the internship (I think there were a 1,000 applicants for 25 spots my year) do it!

Pros:
Great people, amazing leadership and training program. Was given the opportunity to manage my own projects and at the end of my internship they helped me find contacts in NYC.
Advice for other students:
Mullen is a great place to learn and figure out if advertising is the right career for you. The people are amazing and the work is exceptional.

Pros:
- Mullen's Winston-Salem office is terrific. Smart people. Great people. Friendly people.
- SunTrust account and creative teams were amazing to work with. I was able to present a competitive analysis (w/ recs) and help draft creative briefs.
- Worked with other summer interns on a campaign for Suntrust's free checking and pitched it to Creative Director and other execs.
- Paid.
- Cool office.
- Had a blast chilling with the other interns (talent group). I still stay in touch with most of them.
Cons:
Nothing.
Advice for other students:
Mullen is a fantastic agency and outside a couple in Atlanta, one of the most well known agencies in the Southeast. In your application, find a way to convey passion and creativity.

Pros:
I worked within the Public Relations & Social Influence department at Mullen (in Winston, not Boston). I absolutely loved the people and the work. I'm very into media, so this was a perfect fit for me. My boss at Mullen gave me freedom to track and report media mentions/trends across multiple channels for client reporting.
Cons:
none
Advice for other students:
My advice for advertising students that want to get into the account side is to become very good at project management. It's difficult to balance and produce multiple projects at the same time.

Pros:
- Loved the people at Mullen, great team. I got along very well with the planning and media teams.

- Mullen has big accounts. I was able to work on Wachovia, Dickies, and more.
Cons:
Entry level jobs are difficult to come by.
Advice for other students:
My advice is to start loving analytics and data. Develop a solid foundation in data/analytics, then sharpen your media negotiation skills.

Pros:
- Mullen intern project/pitch. This was a fun, but competitive process.
- Jetblue account was very cool. I love Jetblue in general.
- Learned how to perform strong competitive research reports.
- Paid, which is unusual for adverting internships.
- Office is cool, you feel creative just walking in the door.
Cons:
Nothing really. I just hope this catapults me to a fulltime job.
Advice for other students:
Ad agency internships are incredibly fun but incredibly competitive. Make sure your application is perfect and that you know somebody at the agency who can walk your resume over to HR.

Pros:
The brands I got to work on at Mullen were unbelievable and including JetBlue and Zappos. It was a dream come through from a creative standpoint. I got along very well with my creative directors and loved the teams. Mullen has the best ad agency internship in the business!
Cons:
No Cons.
Advice for other students:
Mullen has Fall, Spring (I think), and a full summer internship. If you go to school around Boston, you should get to know them as early as possible.

Pros:
- Clients including great brands like Olympus, GM, and Stanley Tools.
- Learned media outreach. Both traditional and social/digital. The digital side also led to a lot of SEO and link building knowledge.
- Intern mock business pitch was awesome.
- As an intern, I still worked alongside executives.
- Overall, Mullen was just a really cool agency and I'm bullish about their ability to win new business.
Cons:
PR can get repetitive. Creating media list and trying to sell your angle to journalists can be dull.
Advice for other students:
I think my year (couple years ago) there were over 700 applicants for Mullen's summer internship program. You need to find a way to jump stand out from the crowd.
