Pros:
- Other interns at the Chicago office were very smart and from top tier school like Harvard, Princeton, Williams and some great Midwest schools.
- Morningstar definitely uses this to recruit for their development program (pretty solid).
- Learned a ton about rating equities. Morningstar does a great job teaching/training.
- Smart boss.
- Paid and in Chicago.
- Gained real experience in modeling.
Cons:
Not as reputable as ibanking if that is what you want to get into.
Advice for other students:
Awesome summer. May also want to eventually take the CFA.

Pros:
- My team took the time to educate me on mutual funds and Morningstar's rating system.
- Intersection of journalism and finance.
- Part-time internship here in Chicago as I went to school. Not too many hours a week (10-20)
- Paid well.
- Good boss who was easy to work with and understood my school schedule.
Cons:
Lots of research and SEC filings can be a painful to read through.
Advice for other students:
Morningstar is a great company and I recommend the internship.

Pros:
I worked on marketing Morningstar's Advisor Workstation, Portfolio Builder, QuoteSpeed, Annuity Analyzer, and other tools. The Chicago office was laid back and everybody was friendly to me. I was there for about 15hrs/week. My favorite part about the internship is that a little about a lot of different online marketing techniques: display, search, email, and content/seo. It's a shame that college marketing classes don't even touch on these core marketing principles (especially with the rise of digital agency or records).
Cons:
I wish I had more time to intern.
Advice for other students:
I couldn't have asked for more from a marketing internship and Morningstar opened my eyes to online marketing.
