McKinsey also recruits heavily for their MBA/graduate degree internships program. McKinsey also offers a Sophomore Leaders Internship Program and recruits diverse interns from Harvard, Yale, Penn, and Duke.
McKinsey Internship & Company Overview
McKinsey & Company is a global management consulting firm. We are the trusted advisor to the world’s leading businesses, governments, and institutions. We help leaders make distinctive, lasting, and substantial improvements to the performance of their organizations. We tackle their most difficult issues and serious challenges. We provide our people an outstanding place to work, with opportunities for growth that they can find nowhere else.
McKinsey Graduate School Internship Recruitment: The internship program is the best opportunity to explore management consulting at McKinsey. Several offices worldwide offer paid internships. The typical duration and timing is 8 -12 weeks in the summer, though in some cases, there may be opportunities to intern for fewer weeks, or during the spring or fall (this is dependent on the office and the availability of the intern). The intern works on a client engagement as a member of a McKinsey team over this duration. At the end of the internship, the office will generally make a decision as to whether or not to extend the intern a permanent offer. As important, the intern can make a more informed decision in regards to pursuing management consulting in the long term.

Pros:
- McKinsey is very supportive of diversity.
- People are incredible.
- Atlanta office was very smart.
- Amazing experience for the summer after my sophomore year.
- Driven people.
Cons:
I was a little intimidated walking into McKinsey for the first time. But, by the end, I felt comfortable.
Advice for other students:
- I think McKinsey only recruits sopho mores from Harvard, Penn, Duke, and Yale. Reach out to them about the program and make sure you don't miss deadlines.
- Take a look at consulting instead of ibanking.
