Pros:
- People around the agency were very friendly and treated us interns well.
- Beautiful office on the 11th floor of an old building. Great views.
- Did real work on the Marriot account. Produced logos, brainstormed hotel interior signage/layout, and worked on some campaigns.
- Worked hand in hand with the chief creative officer, Gordon Bowen, who was a great guy.
Cons:
- Agency seemed a little conservative. Not necessarily a bad thing.
Advice for other students:
I highly reccomend interning a mcgarrybowen as a creative. Good luck!

Pros:
- Agency feels intimate and has a great vibe. Everybody is friendly.
- Concerts at the office, celebratory cookout when the agency won a big account, and more events.
- Loved NYC.
- Mcgarrybowen office is cool and beautiful.
- I had a young mentor on the account team and she brought me to almost all meetings. Amazingly fun to see an agency in motion.
- My fellow interns and I were assigned to work on a mock new business pitch that involved a creative brief, a creative concept, creative approaches, a media plan, and deliverables. Pitched to the partners. Very fun project.
Cons:
I wish they hired more entry level people.
Advice for other students:
Top internships. Loved Mcgarrybowen.

Pros:
- Loved the strategy and brand planning meetings. A ton of though goes into making the creative brief and how to position certain brands/products. Mcgarrybowen allowed me to be part of those meetings - I soaked them up.
- Office is amazing and very cool.
- Current employees are used to and open to interns.
- I was able to see across departments. From class, you can't really tell how the work is divided, but working in an ad agency, you totally learn what creative, account, media, and digital do and how they work together.
- Overall, loved the internship experience.
Cons:
I wish there was a clearer path from intern to possible entry level position.
Advice for other students:
You get out what you put in. Do not sit there and wait for assignments. Take initiative and you will stand out.

Pros:
- Cool office.
- Smart, creative people.
- Open culture where interns are on par with others and given access to senior leadership.
- Mcgarrybowen let me do some lead research for new business pitches. New business is absolutely exhilarating to work on. I think it's what I would like to do.
- I still keep in touch with my fellow interns. Oh and we also got to pitch a project together.
Cons:
Some people in the industry don't like the agency's creative. Honestly, I think it's just the bitterness in the industry.
Advice for other students:
Get to know a fulltime employee at Mcgarrybowen before you apply and have them give your resume to hr.

Pros:
McGarryBowen is an amazing place to spend the summer. I was also lucky enough to be on the digital team (where advertising is going). Most of the projects I worked on at McGarryBowen revolved around digital analytics. I love this because it gave me the opportunity to master site catalyst, google analytics, clearspring, comscore, etc. I was able to work on huge name-brand clients like Marriott and Chevron. The office was also very cool and I loved my co-workers. One helluva summer.
Cons:
I'm not a fan of microsites.
Advice for other students:
Get into digital. Even if you want to take the tradition AE or creative route, you still need to know this space.

- Cool office.
- Loved the account teams on JP Morgan and News Corp. Also got to do a little work with Barnes and Noble.
- Summer intern pitch project. We were divided into teams and pitched a campaign for Barnes and Noble. I loved the experience and we pitched to the McGarryBowen execs.
- Office energy.
Cons:
none
Advice for other students:
My advice is to make your internship resume/cover letter standout. Take a different angle when applying to McGarryBowen because they get a ton of applications.

Pros:
At McGarryBowen Assisted Crayola Account Team on day-to-day operations. It was an incredible experience and I learned a ton about how an ad agency operates. I was specifically tasked with competitive research and client organization. I also worked on a project to create an Arby's campaign - able to pitch this to McGarryBowen execs. Oh, and the office/culture/people are very cool.
Cons:
Lots of organization type work.
Advice for other students:
McGarryBowen team treats interns well. Their agency is also growing like crazy - just brought on some huge accounts.
