Pros:
I worked in the pharmacy department and I enjoyed it. My boss was terrific and she taught me to systems and was flexible with my schedule. It was a good, straightforward internship at Kroger.
Cons:
It's a typical Pharmacy internship.

Led to a fulltime job at Kroger.

Pros:
This was a support role to the accounting team. It was interesting to see how Kroger does all their accounting and the sheer volume of accounting to be done. The atmosphere was kind of family style, which I liked and the work was typical accounting tasks.
Cons:
Wan't involved in many strategic meetings or functions. I'd love to see more of the finance side of Kroger and less of pure accounting.
Advice for other students:
Be accurate, thorough, and detailed when you're in Kroger's accounting dept. Oh, and be comfortable with excel.

Pros:
Merchandising isn't some glamorous design type role. It's about making money per square foot and math. It's also really interesting if you are more a business person that a design person. I really connected with the business side of this. Crazy to see all the data and analytics that goes into seeming small merchandising decisions - end cap for example. Smart team and I learned a ton over the summer.
Cons:
- Meeting heavy.
- Reliance of data only can hurt creativity.
Advice for other students:
A merchandising internship at Kroger is a great way to get into marketing/advertising. I'd also recommend taking a statistics class in college.
