Pros:

Amazing people, passionate workforce, great company culture. Official title was Intern Associate IT Developer, but my internship focused more on Business/Systems Analysis and Software Development Life Cycle within Home Depot's IT department at the Store Support Center ("don't ever call it headquarters") - Great times to be had, learned a lot, had a lot of fun. Total 44 interns all in IT. Everybody had a ton of work to do and it seems like some of the seniors or recent grads are already getting the first job offers :) Quite a couple of people have received extension offers to continue their internship part-time while going back to school! I didn't think such a huge company could have such a great "family feeling" to it. I'd do it again next summer! :D

Cons:

Not much.

Advice for other students:

Apply early. I think I had a heads up since I was a tech student applying to a consumer goods company internship.

Pros:

- As an intern, I was able to work on real business opportunities. Very exciting to be trusted and listen to by managers.
- Home Depot did a great job taking care of and supporting interns. We always felt comfortable and employees were willing to take their time and explain business issues.
- The complexity and scale of Home Depots finances were both challenging and fun to work on. It's amazing the amount of revenue that's at stake.
- Overall, learned a ton and really enjoyed it.

Cons:

none.

Advice for other students:

Loved it. If they come to your campus, visit with them and follow up. Try to make a contact within the company.

Pros:

- Loved my boss.
- The Home Depot culture was incredible. I really felt like this was an aggressive, fast growing, smart company. Felt more like a startup that a Fortune 500 sometimes.
- Able to help with the layout design for the Home Depot social media profiles.
- Draft and wrote news stories for the Home Depot employee intern website.
- Paid.

Cons:

- Some simple work like label creation, filing, and email drafting.

Advice for other students:

It's very hard to land an internship position in a big company like Home Depot - I recommend trying to get to know a current employee.
