Pros:
My internship was within Hartford's Financial Leadership Development Program. I worked on enterprise risk management as it relates to certain insurance contracts. The work was fascinating. Hartford does a good job with intern events and making sure that students feel welcome. I really enjoyed the people in my group and I could see myself here after graduation.
Cons:
At first, all the risk stuff was foreign to me. But, you learn quick.
Advice for other students:
Risk management is large and growing field at any financial institution. If you can develop a background in risk, you'll become marketable/valuable.

Pros:
- The Hartford is well respected in the industry.
- Experience in modeling out different scenarios for the Consumer and Commercial Markets.
- Exposure to their core business.
- Intern events.
- Laid back atmosphere.
- Smart people.
- Fellow interns.
Cons:
Sometimes during the internship, I wasn't very busy.
Advice for other students:
Start the internship search early and network (even though networking is painful). Also, with Hartford specifically, there is a big difference in the corporate programs vs their field internships at branch offices.

Pros:
The Hartford has a strong marketing team and they took the time to get to know me and teach me their systems. I'm very appreciative of that. The Hartord's undergraduate internship program is well organized and the other students were easy to get along with and sharp. I was able to gain real, hands=on experience in direct mail, production, CRM, and vendor management. Overall, great summer.
Cons:
As with any big organization, things move slower than their agency counterparts.
Advice for other students:
My advice is to see both the corporate marketing and advertising agency sides of the business. If you can gain experience on both sides, it's very valuable and looks great on the resume.
