Pros:

Grant Thornton does a good job with their internship program. I interned within the marketing department and worked on CRM, survey research, and direct mail. I really enjoyed the work and the people.

Cons:

- Data entry.

Advice for other students:

Big corporate marketing is a lot more fun than I thought it would be.

Pros:

- Real experience preparing tax returns for corporations, individuals, and partnerships.
- Grant Thornton has a good reputation when I tell people I interned there.
- Paid.
- Smart managers.
- The other work was very interesting: legal tax cases, international audit (no travel), and even worked on valuations of different entities.
- Good office.

Cons:

As with any accounting, it can get tedious at times.

Advice for other students:

I felt like I was lucky at Grant Thornton to see such a wide variety of tax/accounting work.

Pros:

- Real tax work.
- Intelligent team.
- Positive office environment.
- During school year.
- Grant Thornton does a good job in offering positions to previous interns.

Cons:

- Admin duties.

Advice for other students:

Major in accounting rather than business administration. Accounting gives you hard skills and you'll always need to know income statement and balance sheet info.

- Manager was a cool guy.
- Financial auditing is a growing field.

Audit is detailed and can be painful slow.

Advice for other students:

My advice is that everybody needs accountants, major in it and pass the CPA - you'll always have a job.
