The co-op and intern programs at the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company provide students with practical work experience in their chosen field prior to graduation. The programs can help students determine the type of work that best suits them, as well as help to focus their coursework in a specific field. Ultimately, the program helps students in making their career decisions upon graduation. Ideally, many of the program’s co-ops and interns will become Goodyear associates after graduation. Students studying engineering or science have the opportunity to work in one of many diverse areas, such as: - RESEARCH - working to develop new products, processes or materials
- TIRE TECHNOLOGY - focusing on product design, development and evaluation
- GLOBAL ENGINEERING & MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGY - supporting and developing manufacturing equipment and processes
- MANUFACTURING - gaining valuable experience while working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Students studying computer science may work in either business or technical computer areas. The technical computer operations area provides systems and applications to serve research and development areas, as well as hardware and software applications for manufacturing processes. The business information services area provides systems and applications to support the information and e-commerce needs of the business and functional areas. In the cooperative education program, students alternate between on-campus classroom learning and continued learning and application at Goodyear. If your school does not offer a co-op program, you may want to consider our intern program. Although smaller in scope than the co-op program, the focus remains on providing a quality learning experience for students. Education and Qualifications The ideal candidate will have a passion for Engineering and a long-term desire to help drive Goodyear’s high performance organization. Other requirements include: - Undergraduate sophomore or junior class level at time of interview
- Pursuing B.S./M.S. Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science/Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Engineering, Statistics, Environmental Science/Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, Safety/Environmental Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or other Information Technology major, Applied Mathematics, Physics or similar discipline, Industrial Hygiene, Industrial Engineering

Human Resources Internship The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company’s human resources internship is an opportunity for college students pursuing a career in HR to cultivate their skills in a real-world business environment. Students accepted into the program will typically be provided assignments in the areas of: - Talent Management;
- HR generalist functions;
- Compensation and Benefits;
- Leadership Development;
- Organizational Effectiveness;
- Labor Relations; and,
- Potential cross functional roles, which could include plant locations.
Education and Qualifications The ideal candidate will have a passion for Human Resources and a long-term desire to help drive Goodyear’s high performance organization. Other requirements include: - Pursuit of Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, Organizational Development, Labor Relations or other related fields

IT Intern Program The IT intern program at the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company provides students with practical and real world work experience prior to graduation. Students are provided with professional support and coaching and get an early start to their career. The IT intern program will also help students determine the type of work that best suits them, which puts them in a position to make important career decisions upon graduation. There is great potential for a full time career after graduation. Goodyear offers two different types of IT intern assignments in Corporate and North American Tire divisions. One option is for a full-time summer internship; the second option is for a one-year internship, consisting of full-time work over the summer and part-time work during the academic period. All internships are paid. Depending on the business area and interest of the student, interns may spend the entire assignment in one area or rotate through different functions. Students selected will gain experience through challenging hands-on opportunities and will work with experienced IT professionals. Internships can be available for one or more assignments. Education and Qualifications The ideal candidate will have a passion for information technology and a long-term desire to help drive Goodyear’s high performance organization. Other requirements include: - A minimum 3.0 GPA

Advice for other students:
Goodyear does have some incredible leadership development programs.
