Pros:
• People are incredibly nice, helpful, trusting and fair. I was surprised by how little agency drama there was, for it being such a large place.
• They'll treat you like a Jr. as long as you continue to act like one. Work hard, come early, stay late; you're efforts won't go unlooked.
• Random, but their kitchens on every floor are always filled with fresh Peet's Coffee (a SF classic), dozens of teas, and all the kitchen appliances you'd need (fridge/freezer, toaster, toaster ove, microwave, espresso machine)
• 25¢ beers in the vending machine, everything else is 50¢
• Many employees bring their dogs to work. That might seem trivial, but it speaks to the community feel that Goodby has
• While work can be daunting (ie: you're trusted with real work, for real clients, who expect really good results) it's incredibly satisfying to know you are doing some intern bullshit jobs. I found myself smiling many times during the day, only to realize it was purely because I was loving what I was doing.
Cons:
• There's a bit of a shakeup, and it seems some talent has gone off to other places (generally within the same holding group) BUT they are actively hiring some of the best and brightest minds out there, and are still raking in big awards and big accounts.
• Not necessarily a con, but you will need to be proactive about getting "extra" (see: anything that hasn't been handed to you) work. But if you can get your work done, and get involved helping others out, you'll find yourself in awesome meetings, with important people (see: partners, directors, dept. heads) because of that work.
Advice for other students:
If you move to SF, don't live in the "Tenderloin" area; Google it, you'll find more about it. The only reason I'm listing it is because you might see really cheap housing around there. If you can afford it, look into the Mission, Castro, Nob Hill, or Height areas of the city. They may be a bit further out, but you'll be happy you did. This warning especially goes out to females (guys, just put on a tough face, and be smart): Tenderloin area isn't a good place to be after dark if you can avoid it.

Pros:
Great people, who give great feedback. If you do good work, you'll hear about it. They love to celebrate good work. If you mess up, they show you what you did wrong, what you did right, and tell you to keep working, they know you can do it.
Advice for other students:
If you get here, work your ass off. And be nice to everyone. They like nice here.
The internship program is totally different here than anywhere else. There's so few of us brought on at a time that it's not a competition. We already won the competition when Zach called and offered the internship. Do your work, stay hungry, and say hi to Chuck.

Pros:
Real clients that are awesome to work on. Everyone treats you with resect and you have the chance to carry a lot of responsibility and feel a part of the team. No matter how small the task everyone is thankful and no hard work goes unnoticed.
Cons:
I don't know if I'll ever like a place as much.
Advice for other students:
Craft your book! And DO NOT take unpaid internships...that's just stupid.
