Pros:

I worked on some fixed asset accounting and financial statement analysis. Really enjoyed the detail and accounting work. A lot of what I did was fact check and coordination, but I didn’t mind. My managers were very helpful and walked me through the accounting issues that I had no clue about. Learned a ton more last summer than in the classroom.

Cons:

Nothing.

Advice for other students:

It’s not just the accounting, but the communication of the data to managers/teams that is important. Georgia Pacific is a great company to work for.

Pros:

- Really enjoyed the meetings when we talked big picture of Georgia Pacific. It's amazing the tax work that goes into that place. Learning the big picture/strategy was enjoyable.
- Managers explain tax principles.
- Oh, I got to participate in a tax planning project which was a insightful experience.

Cons:

Tons of data entry, research, compiling documents, etc. But, that is tax.

Advice for other students:

Georgia Pacific is a great place to work. But make sure if you take the tax internship that you are into tax. After the internship, I don't think I want to go into just tax accounting.
