Entergy Internship & Company Overview

Entergy Corporation is an integrated energy company engaged primarily in electric power production and retail distribution operations. Entergy owns and operates power plants with approximately 30,000 megawatts of electric generating capacity, and it is the second-largest nuclear generator in the United States.

Entergy delivers electricity to 2.7 million utility customers in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. Entergy has annual revenues of more than $10 billion and more than 15,000 employees.

We've formally named our Co-op/Internship Program "Jumpstart." Why? Because a co-op/internship opportunity with Entergy is not only a pathway to possible full-time employment with us, it also gives you valuable experience that helps you to get a “Jump Start” on your career.

As an Entergy co-op/intern, you will be assigned meaningful projects closely related to your field of study. Through a series of progressive learning experiences, you will be given the opportunity to grow both personally and professionally. At the completion of your co-op/internship, you will be given a performance evaluation to assist you in assessing your own growth.

Aligned with our commitment to work/life balance, you will also participate in several networking and social events giving you the opportunity to meet other co-op/intern students like you. At Entergy, your internship or co-op experience will be an exciting and rewarding part of your career development.*

Pros:

- Learned the PR/Communication ropes at Entergy.
- Paid.
- Summer in New Orleans is hot and very fun.
- Interesting to see how the energy industry works and the overall business is fascinating. There are huge markets to address.
- Drafted press releases, which is something that I wanted to get on the resume.

Cons:

I wish I got to do more creative brainstorming in advertising.

Advice for other students:

Entergy is a good place to get practical com/pr energy experience. Also, their JumpStart program is well organized.

Pros:

- Paid pretty well at Entergy.
- Good training. They ran me through several courses on the type of accounting work I would be doing.
- Unlike some smaller places where the accounting department was tiny, Entergy seemed like a place where you could move up quickly.
- New Orleans is the coolest city in the US.

Cons:

I would have loved to have seen more financing work and strategic decisions.

Advice for other students:

Energy company + accounting skills = job opportunities. Sorry for the cheesy math equation, but you get the point.
