Pros:

I worked on a very cool UI project with a great team. Honestly, I was kind of surprised at how interesting the technology was and my team was brilliant-smart. My direct manager/boss/mentor always took time out of his day to explain projects to me and made sure I had a shot at solving complex problems without just telling me how things worked. I really liked the way he treated me. DirectTV did a great job organizing and making the internship program fun.

Cons:

I think engineering is kind of hit or miss depending on the department you are put into.

Advice for other students:

Don't overlook DirectTV, it's a solid company that is clearly investing resources/time in their internship program.

Pros:

- Great intern events were you get to meet all the other summer interns. I wasn't from the area, so this allowed me to make some friends for the weekends/lunch.
- Access to mgmt and key execs.
- Great boss, she rocked!
- DirecTV takes pride in this program, you can tell.
- Paid.

Cons:

Work was mostly good, but there were some times where I was doing routine tasks or didn't have too much to do. I wish I got to see more of the creative side.

Advice for other students:

Glad I did this with DirecTV.
