Pros:

- Amazing people.
- I was assigned to a great account and was able to participate in all different type sof processes: creative, media, planning, etc.

Cons:

My internship was unpaid, but during the school year. Summer interns might be paid.

Advice for other students:

Work hard. Take initiative.

Pros:

- Great culture and supportive of interns. When I was in meetings, I felt like I could participate and people valued my opinions. Pretty fun!
- Able to get a behind the scenes look at the Dr. Pepper and Saturn accounts. Great brands with awesome agency teams.

Cons:

Wish there were more entry level hires.

Advice for other students:

Don't wait for work to come to you, volunteer. Keep in touch with them after the internship in hopes for a fulltime job offer.

Pros:

- Able to attend real client meetings.
- Clients included huge brands: Kodak, PNC Bank and Zipcar. I really connected with the Zipcar account and strategy work.
- Attended technology and new media conferences.
- I loved the fact that I was giving recommendations on technical new media tools. I was able to meet with all different vendors.
- Cool office and people.

Cons:

none.

Advice for other students:

New media mixed with technology is a fast growing space, get in.

Pros:

I worked on the International Speedway Corporation and Kodak accounts. Assisted in media buying and creating plans. Also, did competitive research. Loved the media department and the access I got to huge media buys. The media world is crazy and very interesting. It's becoming more and more analytical. I loved my time at Deutsch.

Cons:

Didn't get to lead any projects.

Advice for other students:

If you are into media, you should gain experience on the publisher and buyer side.

Pros:

- Strategy in focus group synthesis.
- Deutsch is well known.
- Worked across many different accounts including "Got Milk? and Outback Steakhouse.
- Exposure to planning department.
- Learned the agency life.
- Amazing office and great people who were easy to get along with.
- The different types of research were fascinating.

Cons:

Deutsch doesn't hire that many entry level people. Creatives seem to rule to roost.

Get into the digital space, clients are always asking about it.

Pros:

- Focus group work.
- Competitive analysis.
- Deutsch is a well know advertising agency with high quality leadership.
- Attended an editing and voice-over recording session.

Cons:

- Status meetings and traffic sheets are pretty brutal.

Get creative when applying for an ad internship. It's all about passion.

- Cool office.

Build relationships while you're at your internship. You never know when you might be recruited later. Also, Deutsch is cool.

Pros:

- Deutsch agency culture and media team.
- PNC Bank account and other big brands.
- Participated in the network upfront. This is a fun, analytical and crazy process.
- Learned how the media allocates and selects their budget allocation.

Cons:

Hopefully this will lead to an entry level position.

Advice for other students:

- Understand the match and science behind media buying.
- Deutsch is a terrific agency.

Pros:

Deutsch accounts.
People.
Creative department.
Grew portfolio.
NYC.
Paid.
Clients included Microsoft, Outback Steakhouse, and Snuggles.

Cons:

The pay in advertising kind of stinks until you reach the senior level roles. But, it's fun.

Advice for other students:

Get work produced.
Deustch is a great agency.

Pros:

- Intern project to come up with media plan for Deutsh client; pitched this plan to senior leaders in the media departemnt.
- Cool boss.
- Space.
- Learned Atlas (ad server).
- Clients.
- Display media space technology.

Cons:

More spreadsheets than I thought their would be.

Advice for other students:

Advertising is tough to crack into, but worth it.
