Pros:

Del Monte Foods is often overlooked, but everyone knows the brands that comprise the company. I was able to work across several dog food brands and it was amazing to see the work that goes into branding. I spent most of my time in market research and point of purchase execution.

Cons:

Sometimes seemed very top down driven. Not sure how much creative freedom some employees had, but that might be part of the strategy.

Advice for other students:

I enjoyed working at Del Monte Foods and you'll get a taste of whether or not brand mgmt at a large company is something that you're interested in.

Pros:

Del Monte Foods allowed me to see several large scale information technology projects during the summer. I really enjoyed the variety and the huge scale. The company produces so much data and all the systems have to be able to talk to each other for people to make good decisions (for me, it was a lot of marketing and inventory decisions). Smart tech group and my boss treated me and the other intern very well.

Cons:

Del Monte Foods is not a typical place a tech student would intern.

Advice for other students:

If you like huge systems, take a look. I had a great summer.
