Pros:
My internship at Community Health Systems really opened my eyes to the business behind healthcare. It's HUGE and complicated. The business analysis team worked together to measure operational costs, satisfaction, and revenue. The metrics work during my internship was intense, but it provided me a solid foundation and great talking points as I look to interview for entry level positions. The CHS culture is strong and upbeat. Everybody was friendly to me as a lowly intern!
Cons:
Community Health Systems is large, so for a little bit, I felt pigeonholed into a singular role.
Advice for other students:
I believe there will be a lot of interesting opportunities in the health business world. Internships like this really force you to think about the bottom line and healthcare in America.
