Pros:

- Colgate gave me hands on experience across two different huge brands.
- Brand management is a challenging and rewarding line of work.
- My boss was transparent and would share all the financial data and previous promotions the group had ran in store.

Cons:

I would have liked to have done more work with our agency and learned a little about brand advertising.

Advice for other students:

Keep the GPA up, it matters. During the interview talk about real stories of how you have previously marketed a product or service.

Pros:

Got to see how HR operations is run. It's nothing like your typical organization behavior class in school. Colgate is scientific and it was cool to see the way they run some of the HR systems. The computer programs I had never used before, but my co-worker and boss took the time to show me how how to produce reports and extract data from our SAP database. I also worked a little bit with the Colgate Palmolive intranet, but that wasn't too exciting, just updating content.

Cons:

I wish I was able to attend more high level HR strategy meetings.

Advice for other students:

Know excel and how to manipulate databases and you will have a big leg up. Colgate is a great place and most employees seemed very happy and driven.

Pros:

Other than P&G, Colgate is the consumer packaged goods place to be. I really felt like employees had pride in working there. The pay was solid and I gained a ton of valuable experience working on market research projects. I was basically tasked with looking into our data and mixing it with some consumer insights work to come up with brand positioning. It was a very enjoyable summer.

Cons:

I kind of wish I was in the NY office.

Advice for other students:

Colgate Palmolive is a really good place to kick off a brand management career. They also look to interns first when making full time offers.
