Our history:
CNO was incorporated in 1979, began operations in 1982, became a public company as Conseco, Inc. in 1985 and changed its name to CNO Financial Group, Inc. in 2010.
Our customers:
Today, we serve more than 4 million middle-income working Americans and retirees. There are more than 50 million potential customer households across America in our target market, and the projected growth of our market is remarkable. The first of the Baby Boom generation will become Medicare-eligible in 2011, and in 10 years, the number of people 65 years old and over will increase by 50 percent. As this group moves toward retirement, we stand ready to serve them with products designed to meet their specific needs.
How our insurance companies distribute their products:
- Washington National Insurance Company distributes to customers at home and at the worksite through independent insurance agents and its Performance Matters Associates marketing arm.
- Bankers Life and Casualty Company distributes through career Bankers insurance agents.
- Colonial Penn Life Insurance Company distributes direct to customers via television, internet and direct mail.*

Pros:
- Good regional brands underneath the parent company.
- Learned how databases and underwriting process works.
- Overall, good experience.
Cons:
"CNO Financial" is a parent company and the coporate structure is confusing when I explain it to people. Also, there were some days where I wasn't busy.
Advice for other students:
Know excel.
