Pros:
My favorite part of my internship was the experience that I gained. Not just the technical skills but mainly the experience of working in a professional environment. At school, one thing that you cannot really learn is how to act once you work in a professional setting. You will quickly learn that everything that you do will either add or take away from the image that your employer has of you. From how you dress to how you speak with your co-workers and managers, you must learn to always act in a manner that will benefit your image.
Of course, getting wined and dined all summer isn’t bad either!
Cons:
Nothing really, great experience.
Advice for other students:
Become a member and go to each meeting of the club in your concentration. Go to every career fair and talk to the companies you are interested in. Get involved on the Executive Board of clubs you are in. Leadership positions in extracurricular activities are invaluable. Do your best to keep you GPA at a 3.0 at the very minimum.
