Internship Stats
Charles Schwab offers a limited amount of paid internships (mostly during the summer) with a focus on finance students.
Charles Schwab Internship & Company Overview
Charles Schwab is a leader in financial services, helping millions of people make the most of their money. Most Schwab careers are based in one of our two main operating segments, Investor Services or Institutional Services.
Charles Schwab offers 10-week paid internships during the summer in various company departments at select locations, including San Francisco, Richfield and Phoenix.
During the application process, we usually select top candidates for interviews during March, April and early May. Those candidates will be invited to interview either in person (on campus or in our office) or over the phone. If you are selected to be a Schwab intern, you will participate in orientation and other special activities. Previous interns attended biweekly "brown bag" webinars and learned about current company issues. Interns also participated in at least one community service activity, such as volunteering at a soup kitchen.*

I really enjoyed working on how to bring certain financial trades and investment products online. Was able to think about messaging, launch tactics, and how to best explain these products to existing clients. Really interesting stuff and my immediate team was very hard working and intelligent.
Cons:

Loved Schwab and San Fran is a great place to spend the summer.

Pros:
- Variety of tasks within the technology department.
- Charles Schwab does a good job creating platforms for active traders. It was interesting to learn how these traders used our tools (site).
- Coffee and occasional free lunch.
- Austin is cool.
- Organized program with feedback.
Cons:
The online trading space is all about volume or DARTs (daily average revenue trades). It's a fascinating business and if you can scale, it can be very lucrative.
Advice for other students:
Charles Schwab is a growing, solid, reputable company. Go for it. They also offer internships in San Francisco and I think some in Denver.
