C.H. Robinson Internship & Company Overview

C.H. Robinson Worldwide, Inc. (C.H. Robinson) is one of the largest third party logistics (3PL) companies in the world with operations in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Asia, and South America. Simply put, we help our customers ship their products around the world, managing the transportation and logistics of all kinds of cargo from electronics to automobile parts to fresh produce.

You’ve probably heard that working as an intern will “look great on your resume.” But what does that really mean? An internship should be so much more than just a line on your resume or a hearty pat on the back for making a fresh pot of coffee. At C.H. Robinson, we rally around you and help fuse your dream career with reality. Our interns accumulate business knowledge through tangible job experiences that immediately transfer over into any workplace. Starting here lets you steer the supply chain with your own two hands.

As early as your first day, you’ll be talking with different people at our branches located around the world. Maybe you’ll even help a customer, connect a produce grower with a shipper, or book your first load. And by the time your internship wraps up, you’ll be on a first-name basis with employees, managers, and executives alike. Our goal is that all this hands-on experience will leave you hungry for more of our fast-paced industry.*

Pros:

- Internship program is a direct pipeline to entry level positions at CHRW. Unless, you really do something dumb, you are probably going to get an offer.
- Internship program is detailed and done well by HR. HR was very helpful to me while I was setting up housing and had process questions.
- Got along well with other interns.

Cons:

Slightly underpaid for the type of industry, but this is a top logistics company. I wish we got more like $20/hr.

Advice for other students:

CH Robinson is one of the best places to get into supply chain/ logistics.

Pros:

- Well recognized company.
- Entry level opportunities all over the country.
- Learned logistics information systems, financial reporting, and how to close big sales deals.
- Range of learning and intern activities.
- My boss was intense, but good at his job.

Cons:

- Low pay for supply chain intern.
- Some long hours, especially if your manager works late.

Advice for other students:

If you are into supply chain / logisitcs, take a look at CH Robinson. It's a good place to start your career.

Pros:

- I know this sounds bland, but Robinson has a fun culture. People like to have a good time.
- Hands on experience.
- I learned a lot about finance. I don't have a finance background, so this was a valuable thing for me to learn.

Cons:

They need to step up intern pay. Other than that, not much wrong.

Advice for other students:

You learn much more being on the front line of CHRW than in the classroom. Take the internship and their are positions all over the country, not just at headquarters in MN.

Pros:

- Variety of challenges/projects.

- Everybody at CHRW was great to me.
- Enjoyed Tampa in the summer and even caught some baseball games.
- Paid.

Cons:

The mix of supply chain and sales was a little unclear to me. Not sure which I want to dive into to.
