Pros:
I helped research and test Burger King's menu, which was quite fascinating. Worked across the brand (marketing) team and the product (food) team to coordinate new menu tests. Some of the work was organization in nature, but not bad - things like brainstorming product descriptions, revisions, formulating specifications, etc. It's amazing how much work and research goes into the introduction of a single menu item. Then you have to roll it out across stores with the same branding, crazy amount of work. It was very exciting and I learned a ton.
Cons:
I hope I can position this internship into an entry level role. The product side of the food industry is tough to break into.
Advice for other students:
Burger King is a great place to intern. Loved the people.

Pros:
- Even though it's not the sexiest cooking job, I love knowing that your work scales. I'm both a business and culinary dork, so this internship was a dream job.
- Worked a lot of new breakfast items.
- Learned that in the QSR business, preparation simplicity is vital. Of course, so is taste :).
- My boss was supportive and a great guy in general.
Cons:
Nothing. This is better than I expected and living in Miami isn't bad at all!
Advice for other students:
Apply for this Burger King internship if you love business and cooking. A lot of my culinary friends thought I was crazy, but I seem to have had the best internship of the group.

Pros:
- Other interns were great people from all over the country, we still keep in touch.
- I was able to go to the Burger King PR, Ad, and Brand team meetings. It was very interesting to see how these units function (nothing like marketing class).
- Miami is a blast.
- Learned how to write a press release and where to publish it. Also, learned the importance of online reputation/pr.
Cons:
Burger King sales were slumping and I could tell that some people from the teams were stressed.
Advice for other students:
Burger King is a great brand and a wonderful company to intern for.

Pros:
- Dealt with merchandising systems, inventory/sales tracking systems, and employment applicatant tracking systems. It was eye opening to see the breadth of issues that the IT department was faced with.
- The IT department was central to operations and I could tell that my boss's boss was a key player in the organization.
- Burger Kind relies on an absolute ton of data to make decisions.
- My internship class (in Miaimi) was close and we hungout on weekends.
Cons:
I hope they hire me, but not sure.
Advice for other students:
Taking an IT intern position was a terrific choice. It showed me the range of IT projects and gave me experience that I can leverage at other job interviews. Go Burger King.

Pros:
- Execs met interns for lunch to talk over opportunites at Burger King and our careers in general. It was relly nice of them to take time out of their day.
- I specifically analyzed day part sales, geography, and monthly income statement numbers. Honestly it was fascinating to see the granularity in which they track things.
- Overall, loved the internship.
Cons:
I think they felt a little threated by McDonald's sales numbers. Not much in terms of the internship that I would change.
Advice for other students:
BK is a great place to learn corporate finance (especially QSR) as an intern.

Pros:
- Enjoyed working in Burger King marketing because they had huge ad spends and did interesting stuff.
- Other interns were a blast to hangout with in Miami. I go to college in Florida, but other interns were from Ivy League schools, etc.
- Presentation on what we learned at the end of the summer.
- Mentors throughout the 10 weeks answered my questions.
Cons:
I wish I got to be part of more creative decisions and less organizational/analytics.
Advice for other students:
Apply and enjoy! Oh, and be creative for your application. I wrapper my internship cover letter in an old BK wrapper.

Pros:
When I was an intern from May 2008 - July 2009, I felt like I was part of the team, not just an intern given administrative tasks. I gained real-world experience that I have taken with me to full-time jobs with other companies. The internship set me up to join the team full-time (I was an intern for a little over a year). The group of interns felt like a family, which was especially beneficial for those coming from out-of-state. Interns had luncheons with members of the global executive team to learn about their career paths, which gave us special access to speak with them.
Advice for other students:
Ask as many questions as you can and get involved in projects that interest you; it will show initiative and engagement in the business other than in just your immediate role.

Pros:
- Worked on candidate experience when applying. Learned all abotu a typical ATS, screening, assessments, legal, etc.
- Loved my other interns.
- My manager was great to work for. She took the time to explain current practices and what she was trying to improve on.
- Overall, BK is a great company.
Cons:
nothing.
Advice for other students:
I'd argue that the HR exposure I got at Burger King was more valuable than any most all other HR majors in my program that did consulting and generalist work.
