Cons:

Can be monotonous
Some boring assignments (that's life, though)

Interview Questions & Process:

Initial interest email to creative recruiter.
Sent portfolio website.
Visited office in NYC for interview.
Offered job via email later that day.

Advice for other students:

Good internship for those that are shameless. Those that are not afraid to put themselves out there to find interesting projects to work on. It is easy to get pigeon-holed into small "banner" style assignment. BUT if you find creatives in the agency you respect, through my experience they were very willing to take you under their wing. I chose BBDO in particular because I wanted a large agency experience from a place that still continues to put out good creative work.

Pros:

- Worked on incredible brnads like Atlantis, The Cove, Wrigley, White Sox, Altoids, and more.
- Experience with social media tracking software, Radian6.
- Really enjoyed the Atlantis and Cove brands. I performed a lot of research and was able to present my analysis of the luxury travel market.
- Got along very well with my fellow interns.
- White Sox intern project and presentation.

Cons:

None.

Advice for other students:

My advice is to go into an advertising internship with the willingness and aggressiveness to take on projects and get things done. Also, many agencies have intern projects - this is a great way to meet executives and stand out for a full time job.

- Presentation of competitive analysis.
- Intern projects.

Cons:

Atlanta isn't the advertising hot bed like NYC, Chicago, or LA.

Advice for other students:

Choose your ad agnecy internship wisely, find any way to get in, and make sure to know the agency accounts/work.

Pros:

BBDO Worldwide taught me much more than I could have ever learned in the classroom. I was able to participate in a food shoot, created a competitive analysis deck, organized print ads, and worked on client presentations. The real positive of the internship was the people at BBDO. My manager and another account executive took me under their wing and were completely honest with me about the business.

Cons:

- I didn't perform very strategic work.
- I didn't get to be involved in the creative process.

Advice for other students:

Some may argue differently, but I believe it's important to intern in a large NYC ad agency. It will teach you about the actual business and then you can decide what you'd like to do.

Pros:

Atlanta BBDO is a great office and one of the top ad agencies to intern in the Southeast. I managed traffic instructions, created competitive analysis, managed assets for client to preview, and assisted on focus group video research/surveys. The office was very trendy/cool.

Cons:

AT&T isn't that sexy of an account and it's a huge account.

Advice for other students:

Get involved in your school's ad club. Also, find a way to connect with BBDO during the school year.

Pros:

- Fun people. My boss was great to work with and she made it a point to include me in all meetings. She also challenged me to come up with strategic solutions.
- The main work I did was a lot of research, account organization, and analyzing data. This may sound boring, but it really gave me a good window into what an entry level advertising role would be like.
- BBDO Atlanta also created an intern project and us interns were challenged to come up with a way for BBDO to support the local art community. We presented a plan to the CEO and CMO which was very cool.

Cons:

none

Advice for other students:

BBDO Atlanta is a terrific office and I recommend the internship. Everybody knows BBDO in the ad industry.
