Pros:
You work hard for the money. You might get paid a lot but I worked 90+ weeks on some weeks. In my summer I actually made around 18k total before taxes but that was because my bank paid overtime.
Cons:
Hard work, but it's ibanking.
Advice for other students:
Evaluate Barclays, JP Morgan, and Goldman. Don't go to a regional if you don't have to.

Pros:
The investment banking work at Barclays was intense and enjoyable. I worked on two major projects. The first was modeling out different scenarios for a parent companies subsidiaries. Looked into their capital structure and accounting. The second (and smaller) was research the Greece and Europe situation. I really enjoyed my managing directors and both took the time to talk to me about career goals.
Cons:
You feel some competition to perform.
Advice for other students:
The Barlcays investment banking internship was well organized and they gave me was very impressive.

Pros:
- Smart people that took the time to teach me instead of just telling me what to do. There is a big difference in this.
- Barcalys set it up where I rotated through the High Grade Trading, High Grade Syndicate, and Equity Cash Trading desks.
- Learned how to bring a new offer to market in terms of pricing and order collection. Fascinating.
- Lots of trader interaction.
- Paid well.
Cons:
Has to create some daily reports that I'm not sure many people read.
Advice for other students:
I can't say enough about this Barclays internship, I absolutely loved it and walked away with so much additional knowledge. I guess my advice is apply early, get to know the university recruiters, and work hard.

Pros:
- Barclay's global brand.
- Index product experience.
- My boss and co-workers taught me a ton about fixed income products. How they work, who buys them, the strategy behind buying them.
- Good coffee, I had 2 cups a day.
Cons:
- Not paid as well as the investment banking interns at Barclays.
- Research.
Advice for other students:
Get a operations, research, or even wealth mgmt after freshmen or sophomore year. Go investment banking senior year. Barclay's is solid and good if you want to go overseas for a little bit.
