Baird Internships & Company Overview
Baird is an international employee-owned financial services firm providing wealth management, capital markets, private equity and asset management services to individuals, corporations, institutional investors and municipalities.
One of the best ways to prepare yourself for your career is through the comprehensive internship program at Baird, located at our offices in the United States and Europe. We offer our interns meaningful, on-the-job experience, and give them the chance to meet and learn from senior leaders across the firm. To enhance your internship experience, we match you with a mentor who will support you in your day-to-day responsibilities as well as provide insights into what to expect in your chosen field. Many of our interns work in our core business areas: Research, Investment Banking, Equity Sales and Trading, Fixed Income Sales and Trading, Private Equity, Private Wealth Management and Public Finance. Baird also accepts interns to our Corporate Resource Group, which is made up of departments such as Corporate Events, Finance, Human Resources, Legal and Compliance, and Marketing and Communications. Interns are given the opportunity to work on and complete real projects. Participants in our internship programs have indicated they value this experience because it gives them the chance to learn new things, as well as practice what they have learned at school. In addition, we offer a mix of functions, including a number of social and networking events, designed to help you grow as a person and build contacts for the future. Events have included brown bag lunches featuring presentations by company leaders, professional sports outings and off-site mixers to get to help interns get to know one another. Although Baird’s formal intern program is held during the summer, we accept interns throughout the year. And interns who perform well during our summer program may be offered opportunities to continue after the program ends. Some interns have gone on to join Baird as full-time associates.

Pros:
- Good brand/reputation.
- Enjoyed the research and I could tell that my managers actually valued/used it which was a good feeling.
- Smart firm.
Cons:
Milwaukee is not nearly as much fun as Chicago or NYC (where my other finance friends spent their summer).
Advice for other students:
Look for NYC ibanks first, then here. Get to know the recruiters.

Pros:
- Interns are given actual work on deals.
- Great exposure to managing directors.
- Laid back style compared to other investment banks.
Cons:
Long hours, but I loved the people.
Advice for other students:
Get to know an employee and have them recommended you to the recruiter. When you get to Baird, work hard and they'll probably give you a full time offer.
