Avis Budget Group
We operate two of the most recognized brands in the global vehicle rental industry through Avis and Budget. Avis is a leading rental car supplier to the premium commercial and leisure segments of the travel industry and Budget is a leading rental car supplier to the value-conscious segments of the industry. We are a leading vehicle rental operator in North America, Australia, New Zealand and certain other regions we serve, based on published airport statistics. We maintain a leading share of airport car rental revenue and operate one of the leading consumer truck rental businesses in the United States. Our car rental business enjoys significant benefits from operating two distinct brands that target different industry segments but share the same fleet, maintenance facilities, systems, technology and administrative infrastructure. We believe that Avis and Budget both enjoy complementary demand patterns with mid-week commercial demand balanced by weekend leisure demand. Our operations have an extended global reach that includes approximately 6,500 car and truck rental locations in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Latin America, the Caribbean and parts of Asia. On average, our global rental fleet totaled more than 350,000 vehicles, and we completed more than 23 million vehicle rental transactions worldwide. Domestically, we derived approximately 81% of our nearly $4.0 billion in total car rental revenue from on-airport locations and approximately 19% of our domestic car rental revenue from off-airport locations, which we refer to as our local market business. *

Pros:
- Able to see specific business unit projects and accounting. I learned how a large organization accounts for multiple branches, etc.
- Smart boss who was nice to me.
- Used things I learned in Intermediate Accounting at school.
- Lunch and learn events were interesting.
Cons:
Lots of excel and didn't really get to see a project through to completion.
Advice for other students:
Overall, the experience at Avis Budget Group was good, but some of the day to day stuff was pretty boring.

Pros:
- Visited with all parts of the marketing department.
- Really enjoyed the media analysis/buying.
- Learned the math/analytics behind Avis advertising.
- Nice people.
Cons:
Didn't feel like I was part of any strategic initiative and my participation was somewhat limited. I guess I was just an intern, but you know what I mean.
Advice for other students:
Avis Bugdget Group is good company and I recommend the marketing department - you'll learn a lot of things that you will never be taught in marketing class - like how things really work.
