Pros:

Learned the sales cycle at Ashland. Unlike other bschool students, I'm into sales because it's good money and challenging. I got to see how successful sales people in this category take care of clients and prospect for new clients. I really enjoyed the prospecting part. My boss took care of me, explained the process to me, trusted my judgement and we had some great lunches together.

Cons:

Some of the work was secretary like.

Advice for other students:

Ashland is an internship that is well done by the HR team. You will learn a lot, but you also have to get into it.

Pros:

- My big summer project was fixing out water systems and saving this particular customer an important amount of money each year.
- Hands on experience, didn't sit in the office cube all day, nor was I out traveling i the field all day. It was good mix.
- Given independence (no hand holding).

Cons:

not sure my water technology knowledge translates (?). But, I did learn about enterprise sales.

Advice for other students:

Work hard when you are at Ashland and soak up the knowledge. Also, I was happy to have an engineering major as my background. Engineering + sales skills are valuable.

Pros:

- Ability to talk to real engineers and manufacturers in the field. Everybody was really nice to me when I asked them to explain their jobs. I was trying to get a feel as to whether or not this specific line of engineering work was right for me.
- Good pay.
- Really enjoyed the steam consolidation project. Felt very consultative. Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised at how much managers valued my opinion.

Cons:

Nothing.

Advice for other students:

Ashland provides some really good engineering co-ops and internships. I don't know if I could have gotten this type of trust/hands on experience elsewhere.

Not much, straightforward internship opp.

Advice for other students:

I'm glad a did a hands on internship at Ashland rather than work in a lab. Students should really think and consider this.
