AOL Internship & Company Overview
Students from colleges and universities around the globe have the opportunity to join us through our intern programs and apprenticeships. Meet people working in the industry and refine your career objectives in a casual, professional environment. Our internships provide a great mix of work experience, professional development opportunities and social networking. Whether you're creating compelling online content, creating marketing and public relations materials, or using technical skills to create widgets that make our sites more interactive -- your contributions matter. Our summer program typically involves an executive speaker series, social events, networking events, and professional development workshops to give you a well-rounded experience. Internships and apprenticeships are focused around the summer break, but some teams have openings throughout the year. We look for ambitious undergraduate and Masters students to work across functional areas including technical, business, editorial and creative.
AOL is a leading-edge web services company, including a network of premium and niche content sites, and an extensive offering of world-class tools and platforms. AOL's business spans the Internet with online and local content, innovative products and valuable services for consumers, publishers and advertisers. With one of the industry's largest advertising networks, AOL engages consumers with online advertising services on both AOL's owned and operated properties and third-party websites. In addition, AOL operates a premium subscription-based access service in the United States.

Pros:
I'm a graphic designer and interned at AOL. It was an amazing experience. Smart employees that taught be some of the development site - html, seo, etc. I was able to pitch design ideas, work on photos, work on button design graphics, and be part of strategic design meetings. I really loved the culture and the teams were very supportive of interns.
Cons:
Travelling from DC to work is a pain.
Advice for other students:
This AOL internship was awesome.

Pros:
At AOL, you know that designs you work on will be seen by millions. AOL seems to be used to interns, so everybody is friendly and encouraging. Started off with small design projects (buttons, etc), but ended up working on some larger design projects.
Cons:
not much.
Advice for other students:
Take it. NYC office is very fun.

Pros:
- Screened and sourced potential deals for AOL.
- Exposure to portfolio company management team and strategies.
- Mobile research memo.
- Very smart media and technology professionals. I loved getting to know the digital publishing and display media businesses.
Cons:
AOL doesn't have the same brand respect as before.
Advice for other students:
My advice is to get investment banking experience. Ibanking will get you thinking the right way about deals. Also, get into the mobile space - it's going to be huge.
