Pros:
Learned what the industry is like. Lots of details you wouldn't normally think about - store design, procurement, shelf space, pricing, etc.
Cons:
some assistant type tasks
Advice for other students:
Take it! I'm not sure if individual stores do internships, but try to intern with corporate.

Pros:
Nice headquarters.
Cons:
I am an African American and did not see 1 Black person during my tour and meet & greet of some of the corporate workers. I have about 8 Black friends who all interviewed for the internship and were flown to Pittsburgh for a final interview, and none of us received offers. I can only speak for myself and say that my final interview was great. I have excellent work experience and interview skills and also very passionate about the company, and I was not hired. When asked why I was not selected, the HR College Recruiter could not give me a straightforward answer. I honestly believe race was an issue.
Advice for other students:
Don't get too excited if you're Black. Even if they fly you out and give you a hotel to come and have a final interview, chances are, you won't be chosen. It's all talk. Sometimes, companies like to keep record of interviews with minorities just for "show".

Pros:
My boss at American Eagle was a great lady, learned sales, paid, and got into merchandising.
Cons:
Really just a sales role.
Advice for other students:
Try to work at a retailers headquarters.
