Pros:
- Great pay.
- Intelligent managers.
- UBS has a well organized program.
- You get feedback on your work.
Cons:
- Very competitive atmosphere.
- Long hours.
Advice for other students:
I'm not sure I was a perfect fit for an investment banking internship. UBS does a great job, but the internship is intense - probably by design.

Pros:
- Freedom to perform research on a couple different large cap, us companies. Made buy/hold/sell recommendation to management.
- We had meetings each morning to discuss different trades and it was fascinating. The interns didn't say much, but we soaked it in.
- The UBS group took the time to mentor me, yet gave me freedom to work on my project, great balance.
Cons:
- Commute was a pain.
Advice for other students:
In the UBS financial services group, I think the quality of your manager really makes or breaks it.

Pros:
- Gained insight into the UBS Wealth Management business operations. I conducted a competitive analysis and highlighted areas where I thought UBS could improve investment product sales.
- During the internship, I learned a ton about structured products. I hardly knew anything about structured products before starting at UBS.
- Good feedback from boss.
- Pretty good pay for non ibanking internship.
- Had access to tons of data and would run comparisons and pull reports across portfolios in regards to financial products sold.
Cons:
Investment banking would have been a fun summer. UBS is huge, so hopefully this will allow me some freedom within UBS to go after a role senior year.
Advice for other students:
Great place to intern. UBS gave me hands on experience that I can directly reference during other interviews.

Pros:
- Very smart managing director of my group at UBS.
- I worked in the Technology, Media & Telecom. I loved this group and the work within it is really interesting.
Cons:
- Competitive atmosphere.
- Long hours.
- Everybody trying to prove themselves.
Advice for other students:
These internships are kind of a right of passage and lead to fulltime jobs. I'm also looking at JP Morgan and Goldman.

Pros:
I interned in a local UBS office for the summer. My broker team dealt with high net worth clients and it was fascinating to see the amount of planning that goes into these types of accounts. I connected with the retirement and tax planning part of the business. The UBS team was also willing to hear my recommendations. Oh, and free delicious coffee!
Cons:
This doesn't have the same glamour as Wall Street, but at the same time, you feel like you are really helping somebody make smart decisions.
Advice for other students:
Take a look into financial planning.

Pros:
At UBS, I worked within the digital media investment banking unit. It was an incredible summer and really exposed me to high level business thinking. I was also able to bring experience to the group. I worked on investment memos and helped two startup business finance themselves. I was also able to work on the Demand Media (DMD) IPO.
Cons:
no cons. Although sometimes I wish I was on the startup side.
Advice for other students:
Really dive deep into the industry and specific companies. Know the space.

Pros:
I did a private wealth management internship at UBS. It was a good experience and UBS is a solid brand on the resume. The highlights were learning about retirment planning (actually pretty interesting)and running risk analysis on client portfolios. Oh, and great boss who let me have a very flexible schedule.
Cons:
This is a good internship for sophomore year, but IBD is much better for junior year. The wealth management work is really all about sales and relationship building.
Advice for other students:
UBS is a great bank.

Pros:
The big benefit to the internship is the prestige and the fact that I was able to see all parts of the UBS business. The internship group rotated between IBD, Sales & Trading, Tech, Operations (2 weeks in each).
Cons:
It's only 8 weeks and the quick rotations meant that I couldn't dive deep into the IBD.
Advice for other students:
If you're on the target school list, try to get one of the sophomore internships from the large finance employers (JP Morgan, Goldman, etc). These sophmore programs are pipelines.
