Pros:

- I love the research, sales, and pitch process - so this was an ideal fit for me.
- Worked on developing lists for outreach and positioning the agency to add new business clients. Proactively added and helped the new biz team.
- Office is in a great part of DC and was cool.
- I could tell they were used to having interns. My managers were patient and taught me a ton about the pr industry.

Cons:

Nothing, this was a terrific experience.

Advice for other students:

Reach out to APCO via social networks and try to connect with them. APCO is a ton notch pr agency, so it's good to show them tenacity.

Pros:

APCO, in general has a very upbeat office. Oh, and I loved the location and the actual office is pretty cool. I was able to work on real projects and participate in meetings. By the end of the summer, I felt like I knew a ton about the PR industry - put classes to shame. The program was structured well and there is an intern pitch assignment.

Cons:

Some boring, repetitive work, but I was ready for this.

Advice for other students:

Take on responsibilities and tasks. Don't wait to be told to do something.

Pros:

Well-structured program;
Practical pitch experience;
Readily available expert mentors;
Approachable top-level management;
Experience across different sectors and working groups

Cons:

It can get overwhelming sometimes! The pitch competition is a great practical experience but could be scheduled early on in the semester so it doesn't coincide with finals for students.

Advice for other students:

Make the best of the expert resources. Set up meetings with subject area experts, they are always ready and approachable - this is all the networking you'll ever need! Seek out new projects, stay in touch with project managers you've worked with before and check in periodically with them to see if they need your help. Above all, maintain a good rapport with your assigned mentor (or 'Intern buddy'). Mine was extremely supportive, understanding and helpful throughout the internship.

Pros:

- Assigned to a great client team. Loved them. Fun to work with and very sharp.
- I thought I would have to do some grunt work, but I was pleasantly surprised at the actual work I was given. Sure, some was research, but interesting research.
- Learned how to clearly articulate client goals and the importance of them.
- Location and office are cool and trendy.
- Love the heck out of DC.

Cons:

I can't think of any. I hope APCO gives out some entry level positions.

Advice for other students:

Very satisfied with the internship. Great people and great work.
