Pros:
I started the summer program a week after graduation. I was part of 3M Corporate Auditing for six weeks and then moved to Financial Planning and Analysis. The 3M internship program is dynamic and well paid and gives you numerous opportunities, for example, giving final presentations in front of 3M’s CFO, Mr. Pat Campbell.
Cons:
none
Advice for other students:
I got my internship by networking at a 3M breakfast on campus. Check if they recruit from your school and make sure to be there.
Also, this led to a full time job.

Pros:
I’ve done three internships at 3M. In one, I researched the use of fluorine, one of the key ingredients to 3M's Scotchgard. In another, I examined the necessity of red lighting during the production of a light-sensitive dental material. My research concluded the material could be processed under yellow lights, which were the normal conditions throughout the plant. I was told that my work saved the company roughly $200,000, as 3M did not have to build a separate production room for processing the dental material – amazing that I was able to have the responsibility and impact as an intern. In my final internship, I worked on making a cancer drug more effective by analyzing how it was delivered to cancerous cells. Very rewarding work.
Cons:
none.
Advice for other students:
This led to a full time job.
Get involved early. Don't be afraid to intern at the same company for multiple summers.

3M is a great place to intern. Enjoyed it and enjoyed Minneapolis - you have to go to the huge mall.
