Pros:

I got to work on big, sexy clients' search accounts hands on.
I learned Google AdWords (and Bing Ads) by simply doing and learning from my mentors.
I got my own account.
There's a ping pong table.
The atmosphere is laid back, which oddly enough promotes better, creative work.
You're not treated like the typical intern. You're respected. Seriously.
It feels like a family, not just coworkers.

Cons:

Unpaid.
Sometimes there wasn't work to be given. Sometimes and only rarely.

Interview Questions & Process:

I was asked my prior experience in the field. I visited in January on my own ticket, was invited to an exclusive open house in March, and had a video interview offsite in late April.

Advice for other students:

First off, be qualified. If you can check that box off, then go ahead with applying for this internship. Make sure you go after ONE position. One position and that's all. It shows dedication and interest. Oh, and always keep the energy up. Show enthusiasm for your work. Why do it if you hate it? Why do it if you'll only give half an effort?

Pros:

I feel like I learned about the way advertising companies work and how all of the different departments work together. I was given jobs that were actually meaningful and useful to the agency, so I feel like I was actually able to contribute to the company. The people here are all very helpful and encouraging, and you can tell that they are passionate about what they do.

Cons:

I feel like I had too much work for it to be unpaid.

Interview Questions & Process:

I had a short skype interview with a copywriter at the agency. I was asked what I would like to gain from the internship, and was basically just told about everything that the internship entails.

Advice for other students:

I would definitely apply for this internship. You will make so many connections and will learn valuable information about the industry.

Cons:

Interview Questions & Process:

My interview were over Skype because I could not come into the office. I was scheduled to interview with 3 people, but only had two interviews in the end. They were fun and informative. The questions were about my interest and experience.

Advice for other students:

Great internship experience if you are ready for the responsibility and wish to show what you can do. Campaign management department is great for those who like to manage and are organized.

Pros:

Although I was a brand planning intern, I gravitated to the new business department at 22squared. I really enjoyed this line of work. New business at an ad agency is a mixture of strategy, sales, marketing, advertising, and finance. Everybody at the agency was nice to me and I got along well with the group. I also got to see regular client work for Publix, Buffalo Wild Wings and Lincoln Financial.

Cons:

none.

Advice for other students:

22squared is the best agency in the southeast.
